Uncharted Territory
Cry of the past, call of the future
Grasslands of the Tidal Lake, Northeastern Plains of Northern Halonia
Cheyenne was walking through a forest. A mysterious, oppressive silence surrounded her. The trees were arranged symmetrically and formed a straight path. She had no choice but to walk along this path and see where it led, for there was impenetrable thorn bushes behind the trees.
The further she got, the louder it became. The peace was disturbed by the death cries of tormented people, animals and demons, but far and wide there was nothing to be seen of the suffering. The path became steadily narrower and ended unexpectedly in a dead end, in the form of a rock face.
Suddenly, Cheyenne got an eerie feeling. She thought she was being followed and felt a look on the back of her neck that gave her goosebumps. Her heart beat faster and the trees seemed to grow taller. She got scared.
Suddenly all sounds fell silent and it became quiet. The uneasy silence did not last long, however, for a clearing of the throat could be heard behind the girl. Cheyenne turned around in a flash and couldn’t believe what she saw next.
Her eyes filled with tears, which fell in streams down her cheeks to the ground. An emotional chaos consisting of happiness, joy of reunion, emotional pain and bewilderment ensued. All danger and the eeriness of this environment were forgotten and Cheyenne felt a pleasant security in its place.
A few meters in front of her stood her grandfather and looked at her.
Nothing could have stopped the girl from running off to the old man she had missed so much. She was overjoyed to see him again, for she had believed that he was dead and gone from her life forever.
Cheyenne had obviously misjudged the way to her grandfather, because she had to walk further than expected. When she finally arrived at the beloved family member, she embraced him stormily. She pressed herself tightly against her grandfather and drenched his shoulder with her tears of joy. She felt so incredibly comfortable and happy at that moment.
And yet there was something that suppressed the security and made her feelings seem fake. The grandfather was freezing cold, Cheyenne didn’t feel a heartbeat or breathing, he didn’t move and didn’t put his arms around his granddaughter.
Silence.
But now the old man finally raised his arms and the girl thought that he had just been so overwhelmed to see her that he couldn’t react in bewilderment. His hands moved to Cheyenne’s forehead, he stroked her cheek and then ran both palms down her neck. The grandfather’s fingers stopped the movement as soon as they arrived at his granddaughter’s collarbone.
Suddenly he gripped Cheyenne’s neck tightly and grabbed it with a tremendous pressure. He lifted the girl up a little so that she was no longer standing on her own feet, but above the ground. Then he choked off his granddaughter’s air to breathe and squeezed even harder than before.
Cheyenne tried to break away from the grip and wanted to scream and ask why her grandfather was doing this, but she only managed to chuckle, hoarse sounds. The old man’s good-natured eyes turned a colorless white, and he threw the girl away from him. The landing felt too hard, for a grassy ground, but Cheyenne couldn’t deal with it right now. She coughed, wheezed and breathed heavily. Disappointment, fear, despair, immeasurable sadness and a guilty conscience haunted her head. She blamed herself, even though she didn’t know what for.
Why? What did I do?
She turned on her side and felt her hand bump into something. The girl saw an old, broken shoe and looked up at the person who was wearing it. In front of Cheyenne stood her grandmother and another emotional chaos arose. The granddaughter stood up and embraced the old lady as well, but the old lady immediately pushed her away from her, she fell to the ground again and now wept tears of pain. Her soul felt as if it had been pierced with swords, burned with fire, and the flame frozen with eternal ice, so that it blazes forever inside and the agony never ends.
Cheyenne was rejected by her beloved grandparents and her grandfather had even tried to kill her. And this despite the fact that they had just found each other again. She felt the emptiness inside her turn into depression when she saw her grandmother’s white eyes, staring at her coldly. But the granddaughter would rather be killed by her grandparents than do the same and cast them out. The girl loved the two old people and it would stay that way, no matter what happened now. She wanted to be with them forever. She had missed the two of them so much and didn’t want to feel the suffering of the loss again.
The feeling of irrationality flowed through her, but she didn’t care.
Cheyenne tried to sit up and looked at her grandmother. At that very moment, she felt a sharp, stabbing pain that stretched from her left ear over the entire side of her face and had such a force that she fell to the side. She felt wet, red liquid dripped to the floor and soaked it.
Blood.
The girl flinched in fright and touched the wounded spot with two fingers. Then she looked at the color that could now be seen on it and sobbed.
Cheyenne’s gaze fell again on her grandmother, who was standing in front of her, holding a sharp kitchen knife in her hand, on which fresh blood stuck and also dripped to the floor. The grandfather stood next to the old lady and both looked at their granddaughter. They opened their mouths and a duet of gruesome ghostly voices sounded. “You made us suffer and handed us over to death. It’s your fault… It’s your fault… It’s your fault… You killed us… You alone… It’s your fault…”
The voices turned into a mischievous, malicious laugh, and the wrinkles of the old people grew larger, and blood gushed out of them. Countless flesh wounds appeared on the bodies and bones were exposed. Cheyenne was lying in a pool of blood from her beloved family. The grandfather reached out and slapped his granddaughter in the face with the flat of his hand, so hard that a bloody handprint could be seen on the girl’s left cheek and her wound bleeding stopped there. The ground beneath her gave way and she sank into a square lake of red liquid. In her head she heard the mocking laughter of her grandparents and the agonizing screams that came from the thorn bushes and had previously fallen silent returned. Cheyenne could no longer breathe and was imprisoned in all the blood. Her eyes burned like hell and she tasted the guilt and death on her tongue. Then she heard a snort.
A brown horse with blue antennae had appeared above the lake of blood, its unnatural white eyes staring at Cheyenne angrily and reproachfully. The mouth looked as if the animal was grinning mischievously and it rose. The girl saw the names and hearts on the hooves when they were above her head. No… Not you either… Falconheart… The horseshoes turned white and came towards Cheyenne.
They hit her head.
And smashed her skull.
Everything turned white.
A single scream, tormented by suffering, could be heard deafeningly loud.
The one from the girl herself.
Cheyenne woke up in tears, she was distraught and shocked, leaning half-lying against a tree and not even noticing that she had screamed. Then she saw Glaczio kneeling next to her, he looked at her worriedly and she returned to reality. Her lungs hurt like hell and after this desperate scream, she could hardly breathe. Her whole body felt a little numb, but at the same time she trembled incredibly and felt enormous pain. She tensed up when she began to feel all this and kept still, while tears still flitted down her cheeks. Her head felt as if it had been hit against a stone countless times and her left hand was covered with herbal paste, wrapped in green leaves and it tingled a little painfully in this area of skin. A wooden stick held the forearm straight.
Cheyenne sniffled, not knowing what to think, where she was, what was going on. Her soul felt empty and imprisoned in an endless sadness. The girl raised her head and looked at Glaczio again while she sobbed. He didn’t ask any questions and just looked at her compassionately, worriedly and understandingly.
Cheyenne couldn’t take it anymore and threw herself at the healer’s neck. She accepted the pain of the jerky movement and clung to Glaczio. The tears came in streams from her closed eyes and he let her be.
The calming effect of the combination of cold and winter scent was once again instantaneous and helped Cheyenne, at least somewhat. She noticed how much she had cramped her fingers and loosened them. She hoped that the clawing grip hadn’t been too painful for the healer. The girl didn’t quite know if Glaczio was overwhelmed by the situation, or if he just didn’t expect her to hug him, because he only hesitantly raised his hands. He didn’t seem to know if he should really touch her. But then he plucked up the courage, put one hand on his protégé’s back and stroked her head and hair with the other. Cheyenne now felt more comfortable and also a bit secure. She could slowly stop crying and lay still in the arms of the healer. He now put his chin on the head of his protégé.
Cheyenne didn’t care if he was okay with her lying in his arms, she just wanted to feel someone’s closeness and affection now and actually she couldn’t imagine that he didn’t like the hug of a girl. In addition, he always had such a calming charisma, an advantage in this disturbing situation. Besides, Sasha didn’t seem to be around at the moment.
The two remained in this position for a few seconds before the healer tried to take away his protégé’s sadness in a calm, whispering voice. “Hey… Little angel… Have you had a nightmare? No wonder, with all that you have experienced… No matter what happened in it, it was just a dream… None of that just happened, because you’ve been here the whole time, I haven’t let you out of my sight. Would have been a bit too risky for me after Sasha gave me the order with a deadly serious face, hehe. All of us have bad dreams sometimes, so don’t take it to heart, do you? All is well, little doll…” A nightmare… Yes… That had been it… But he was so real… and it’s all true… what they said… Although Cheyenne was now convinced that it must have been a dream, she couldn’t shake off the spark of reality in it. Nevertheless, she had become very calm at Glaczio’s words and already felt much better.
The girl had arrived back in reality and wiped the last tears from her face. She was glad not to be alone and a little surprised at the healer’s understanding. After all, her behavior was more reminiscent of a toddler than a seventeen-year-old girl, and she would expect Glaczio to pat her on the back and then make fun of her in his arrogant way. But nothing of the kind happened. She was very grateful to him for that.
Cheyenne pulled away from the healer a little and her face was now opposite his. Even when sitting, she was still a lot smaller than him. The girl looked at him sadly and noticed that his ice-blue eyes were the most beautiful she had ever seen. She had already noticed that Glaczio was handsome, but never before had she noticed his eyes as much as she did at this moment. They radiated intelligence, cunning, understanding, kindness, but also a certain emptiness and sadness hidden deep down. Now he seems like a real friend to me again, instead of a stranger… Glaczio and his many personalities… Cheyenne averted her gaze and sighed. The pain in her lungs became somewhat bearable again and she compared the words of her grandparents in her dream with those in reality. “I saw my grandparents in the dream… They didn’t want me anymore and hurt me, and in the end Falconheart killed me. They said… I was to blame for their deaths and they repeated that over and over again… But I know that they would never have said that in reality. I know they loved me, just as much as I loved them… And Falconheart would never… killed me… I’m sorry to tell you all this, you probably don’t want to hear it… But I’m feeling a little better now. Thank you.” Glaczio shook his head only slowly and seemed happy that his protégé was doing reasonably well again. He thus also gave her to understand that it did not bother him to have heard the dream description.
Only now did Cheyenne notice that Adocaz was not with her, and she was reminded of her fall at Bellistra Lake, when Falconheart was not near her and she had never seen him again. Panic arose in her, she was very worried and let her gaze wander around as best her body allowed. Glaczio seemed to sense her uneasiness and pointed with his finger to a lake to the right of Cheyenne. “If you’re looking for the fairy wolf, look at the lake in front of you. It is called the Tidal Lake and we are located in the northeasternmost part of northern Halonia. The only thing there is here are the lake, these few pear trees there, the old tree here that you were leaning against and these rocks, behind me, which block your view of the end of the sand passage and offer us a little privacy, from all the people who pass by here. The huge mountain you see in front, to your right, behind the tidal lake, that’s Mount Nightblade. Oh yes… Before you worry now, I can reassure you. No one was critically injured except you… But your condition was not very critical for long, then you were already on the road to recovery. Quick recovery, a chosen advantage.” Glaczio winked at Cheyenne. She looked to her right and saw a huge blue-green lake. Tons of herbs grew around him, water lilies floated on the surface and reeds protruded from the water. She was reassured when she spotted Sasha and Adocaz on the shore.
The environment was exactly as Glaczio had described,
a few single pear trees bearing ripe fruit had grown around the lake, behind
the tree where the healer and the girl were there were a few large rocks, a
little behind the pear trees the land was over and you could see the wide sea,
before an increasingly steep,
predominantly black stone wall obscured the view of the blue and formed
Mount Nightblade. Otherwise, far and wide there was only grassland with
individual trees and flowers to be seen. Colorful butterflies and brown rabbits
scurried across the plain from time to time and made the wide country look
inviting and friendly through their lives. Cheyenne saw a fox-lumenium demon
roaming in the distance, but he didn’t look in her direction and didn’t spot
her. That’s right… Glaczio once said
that the demons are only effectively fought in Luminastrelle, because that is
‘the sacred continent of the capital’. But there don’t really seem to be many
here in Halonia, although they only kill them here if they attack you? Hm…
Maybe this strange peace between humans and demons has a positive effect and
the black and white monsters are not as aggressive and less often represented
here. Glaczio said that he doesn’t know much about demons, so maybe my theory
is even correct. Well, anyway… So this is Mount Nightblade. There my… fate
will be decided… This mountain is huge, it looks like an extinct volcano…
If I remember correctly, as a child I saw a picture of exactly this mountain in
a book we had at home. At least it looked the same. But the only thing I can
remember besides the photo was that it is the largest mountain in the whole
world, but also a dangerous place. And I think I know why. Lumenium
deficiency… Oh no, hopefully a path won’t collapse again, like in the
Klissave Mountains…
Cheyenne, despite the many thoughts that went through
her head, had not yet forgotten Glaczio’s statement and now realized that she
actually felt a lot better than before on the sand passage. Her forearm had
definitely been broken, but now she could move it again to some extent. Her
body was also no longer as exhausted as before. Her lungs also seemed to have
recovered somewhat and apart from a few small, almost completely healed
scratches, she had not suffered any additional damage. Chosen advantage, he says… Well… Maybe… But I actually felt a
little better after this sea dragon saved me… Hm… ‘You mustn’t die. I will
not allow it. Don’t be afraid, my dear Cheyenne. Not yet.’ … Not yet, yes?
Was that perhaps just a dream? It felt like this… But… I sank after all,
and Adocaz didn’t have to dive deep to find me… It must have been real… But
the others would never believe that, so I should keep it to myself first…
This encounter… and what the black dragon said… I’m not allowed to die, that’s
something that can be associated with the chosen one… Argh, I don’t want to
believe it… But it probably is…
Sasha and Adocaz were just making their way back to
Glaczio and Cheyenne. The girl was glad that the two were doing well, but a
question burned on her tongue and she turned to the healer. “If you’re so
confident that I’m the chosen one, why are we going to these elders at all?
Just so that I can be absolutely sure, even though everything speaks for
it?” Glaczio closed his eyes halfway and grinned a little. “No, not
necessarily, little angel. That’s just one of the reasons. You know, actually,
we don’t have to go to the ancient people, because it’s pretty obvious, as
you’ve already noted, who you are. Besides, I know it for some reason, my
intuition gives me certainty… In any case, Sasha wants to go to the elders,
because it is the greatest honor for a shadow servant to see the old couple
once in their life. You want to go there so that you can be completely sure of
who you are. I’m the only one here who really thought about it, because
otherwise a visit and the climb to the House of the Elders would be a waste of
time. However, I came to the conclusion that they might give us a way, tips,
hints, any special… well… Fortune telling, or something similar. After all,
they are not the oldest of all shadow clans and parents of the Superator for
nothing… Hey, but I’m waiting outside, just that that’s cleared up, yes? They
wouldn’t be happy if I were in their holy house, believe me.” Cheyenne
understood that he was worried and that it would be the most sensible thing for
him not to run into the elders, but she would explain the situation. After all,
he was one of their companions and had long ago said goodbye to his role as the
chosen one, if he was to be believed.
At that moment, Adocaz arrived at his owner and licked
her face stormily and full of joy. The girl giggled and tried to get her
four-legged friend under control. The latter, however, was too happy to calm
down, but after a few seconds he sneezed and then lay down, his head resting on
Cheyenne’s right leg. Sasha also came and immediately inquired how her friend
was doing. “Cheyenne, you’re awake, how beautiful. I heard you screaming
and hurried, but I couldn’t get any faster, because otherwise Adocaz would have
licked all the herbal mixture off his paw… So, what did the icicle do? If he
has even touched you, then he can be prepared for something and he will get a
free trip into space with no return!” The healer closed his eyes, tilted
his head and sighed. He seemed to be getting tired of Sasha constantly accusing
him of something. She knelt to the right of Cheyenne and looked at her friend
from head to toe. The girl exonerated Glaczio from the accusation of the young
woman. “He didn’t do anything, Sasha, on the contrary. I’ve had a
nightmare… And he helped me calm down again. What about Adocaz’s paw? Is he
injured?” Sasha was relieved that her friend was well and nodded
hesitantly. “Um, yes, well, Adocaz didn’t react fast enough in the fight
against the giant beast, that was when he noticed that you were thrown into the
sea and he immediately ran to save you. Of course, I had the same thing in
mind, but the icicle here said it would be enough if one goes. And well, what
can I say. Somehow that sounded logical and he was right, because if I had been
away too, he would have had to fight the demon alone. It couldn’t end well, so
I stayed on the battlefield. Anyway, one of those damn pointed legs of this
disgusting arachnid hit Adocaz’s left front paw and cut him. But don’t worry,
the wound is not too deep and will heal quickly. I washed them out with water,
then applied a mixture of herbs and wrapped them with leaves. In a few days,
the paw will be as good as new, unless the icicle plucks up the courage and helps
out as soon as he feels able…” Well,
as long as it doesn’t cause Adocaz too much pain and the injury heals… He
doesn’t seem to feel anything at the moment, otherwise he wouldn’t have been so
happy just now. But he was only hurt because of me, I just have to be more
careful… Cheyenne stroked the
pretty head of the fairy wolf and then dug her right hand into his fluffy fur.
She was relieved that he hadn’t suffered any worse wounds.
The chromastars were slowly becoming paler, so it
seemed to be late afternoon. The girl noticed that she must have slept for
quite a long time. She thanked her companions for their help. “Thank you
for everything… Without you… I wouldn’t have been around for a long time…
I’m sorry that I was a burden to you instead of helping… I really did my
best, but it obviously wasn’t enough… Did anything extraordinary happen after
I fell asleep?” Glaczio resumed speaking, now that Sasha had calmed down.
“Hey, little angel, you weren’t a burden to us, quite the opposite. If you
hadn’t been with us and stood by us so bravely and courageously, despite the
fact that only your bow was available to you as a fighting tool, the whole
thing would have had a different ending. I certainly speak on Sasha’s behalf
when I tell you that you have truly done a great job. To be honest, I didn’t
expect you to try so hard and join the fight. And your courage… is truly
unique and amazing. You didn’t give up in the end, even if your body was no
longer fully controllable. Your willpower is breathtaking. By the way, that’s
what I mean now, even if you might think I’m just teasing you, hehe. Apart from
that, you’ve already given me some compliments on my character, I’m just giving
back what was given to me. Only partially, of course, hehe. You will one day
become a supremely gifted warrior… And a very pretty one at that. Your
devotees will be queuing up in front of your mansion and need an appointment to
see the great chosen one of darkness, hehe. But I know that you don’t like this
future music very much, so forgive me for the statement. To get back to your
question, little angel, no, nothing exciting happened, you didn’t miss
anything. Although… Actually, yes, because the strong, beautiful hero Glaczio
carried you on his hands, his breathtakingly pretty, sweet angel and brought
you out of the danger zone to here. Your condition was really terrible…
Rarely have I seen someone so weakened and hurt inside, who also survived the whole
thing. You were just a wreck and we were afraid you would confuse the gate of
death with that of life, because you weren’t really alive, but you weren’t dead
either… Luckily, you had the powerful healer Glaczio with you and his
gorgeous, herbalist assistant Sasha-Mouse, hehe… To list the worst injuries,
I’ll start with your left forearm. It was downright shattered and not just
broken. A sharp splinter has pierced through flesh and skin and exposed the
fracture. I have put everything back in place with a healing spell and the bone
is whole again. But with the best will in the world, my strength was no longer
enough for the wound, but babe’s herbs also have a very good effect. And with
your good self-healing, there should only be a small scar tomorrow, so don’t
worry. The rest of your body is just exhausted and needs a break, so we will
spend the night here and continue tomorrow. Then you should be reasonably
rested and a longer break is good for all of us… I was most worried about
your lungs. They seemed to be hurt inside, possibly from the many hits you
suffered. Maybe it was already a ruptured lung, I couldn’t do enough research,
because you really couldn’t breathe, it had to be fast. Anyway, I used my last
strength on it and now it should still sting a bit when you breathe, but
otherwise everything should be fine again. Tomorrow you’ll be as good as new,
little angel.”
Cheyenne was a bit shocked by her condition, but at
the same time glad that she was on the road to recovery and that tomorrow,
presumably, everything would feel normal again. The further plan also appealed
to her, because she could not have claimed one hundred percent that she would
not fall down after a few steps, let alone be able to continue afterwards. But
the girl was sure that she would be fit enough to continue her journey
tomorrow. “Thank you, you two… I really don’t know what to do without
you…” Glaczio smiled and Sasha hugged her best friend. The touch caused
some pain and Cheyenne involuntarily flinched, but ignored the uncomfortable
feeling and was happy about the loving hug.
Sasha had become really important to her and she had
taken her to her heart. That’s why she was so happy to see her best and only
friend so happy. The condition of others, in so far as they were not enemies,
was always much more important to the young woman than her own, as far as the
girl had observed and could judge. Even if she wasn’t feeling well, she could
always bring joy to someone she liked. She was truly unique and Cheyenne was
incredibly happy to know her and to be able to call her her friend.
The healer laughed softly and looked at his protégé a
little regretfully. He had noticed her flinch and tapped his childhood friend
on the shoulder. “Sasha mouse, she’s not pain-free yet, so pull yourself
together and spare the little angel unnecessary suffering. Tomorrow you can hug
her as much as you want, hehe.” Sasha slowly broke away again and still
seemed happy that the girl was feeling better. But she understood and
apologized immediately. “Oh, yes, I’m sorry, Cheyenne, but I’m just so
glad you’re feeling better. I really thought you were going to die, so don’t
blame me, ok?” Sasha had tilted her head, closed her eyes and smiled. She
infected her friend with her cheerful nature and she had to laugh quietly. This
caused pain in her lungs and she stopped it immediately. Cheyenne leaned back,
against the tree and Adocaz snuggled closer to her. He did it so carefully that
it didn’t hurt his owner. Sasha stood up and let her gaze wander around.
“Well, I can imagine it will also be very cold here at night, so I’m going
to go look for firewood now. Fortunately, these pear tree branches don’t look
so stable… Hm… I know you won’t help me, icicle, that would be a miracle.
But at least make yourself useful if you’re already staying here and take
another look at Cheyenne’s forearm, yes? Adocaz, you’re sure you’ll stay here
too? I rely on you not to let your mistress out of your sight here. Make sure
the idiot doesn’t do anything stupid, okay? Good, see you later, guys.”
After a strong bark from the fairy wolf in confirmation, the young woman nodded
to Cheyenne and set off.
Glaczio slowly removed the bandage of leaves and the
rather straight branch, watched by Adocaz’s faithful black eyes. His protégé
also watched what he did. The healer took one of the leaves and carefully
brushed some herbal pulp from the wound. The girl flinched and moaned briefly
in pain. A bloody wound barked under the green paste, even the bone was
visible. However, there were not even cracks to be seen on it. Glaczio seemed
satisfied with the result and smeared the healing herbs back on the open area.
Cheyenne trusted him in this regard, after all, he knew what he was doing. And
Sasha seemed to be very talented in dealing with medicinal herbs, because after
all, she had made the green paste. As soon as this was applied to the wound
again, the pain disappeared quite quickly. Glaczio now only put on the leaves
and left out the branch. “It looks much better than before. You don’t need
the branch anymore, you may feel some pressure on the bone, but that will only
make it strong again faster in your case. Do you know why bones and teeth seem
almost completely white to us? Because they form the sites with the most
concentrated lumenium in living organisms. They are not unphysical, but they
also do not take on color, because they are largely hidden in the body anyway
and have a somewhat denser structure.” Cheyenne listened carefully and
understood. Oh, that’s right, even bones
are almost pure white. I always forget that because they are hidden in us…
And I have never seen so many of them in my life, the only thing that always
strikes me immediately are the teeth and the white spots on the eyes. Maybe
it’s so concentrated there… to probably give us a better view… But I don’t
know either, somehow the lumenium white seems different to me than that of
light or the white produced by research. Lumenium can also store heat, for
example in a body of a living person, in contrast to light, but this probably
has no structure either… Hm… At this topic, she remembered the gigantic
demon that possessed both Lumenium and Umbraurore and that almost sent her to
her death. She believed that the healer knew more about it. “Glaczio? I
have a question, I think you can answer it for me… So the spider crab earlier
on the sand passage was of both forces. You said it wasn’t a normal demon…
What was it actually? And why could we touch and fight this monster’s legs when
they were made of unphysical lumenium?” Glaczio looked at his protégé and
answered the question asked. “I’ll try to explain it to you. Well, I’m
ninety-nine percent sure that it was a so-called Legendis demon. They consist
of both powers, making them enormously difficult to defeat. Due to the combination
of Lumenium and Umbraurore, they would actually have a real body if the genetic
structure were not defective typical of demons, so they have more abilities
than normal demons. For example, they can create magic from the animal whose
form they embody. In our case, it was a spider crab whose element is water, so
the magic that can be cast would also be water. They can also eat, but not
digest the food, due to the faulty structure and in our case the demon was even
poisonous, it is also possible that it sometimes poisons itself for the same
reason as when eating. Unfortunately, this luck was not on our side…
Otherwise, not much more is known about Legendis demons, they have hardly been
researched because they are very rare and enormously dangerous, as you had to
discover. Only a few people have ever seen them and survived the meeting. Those
who kept their lives, however, dealt with the demons and started
investigations. It has been found that Legendis demons are something like the
kings among demons and protect the lower ones of them. Therefore, there seems
to be only one of these giants of both forces per continent. We saw the one
from Luminastrelle and I guess he attacked us out of anger. From the demons’
point of view, they were driven from the land and pushed back to the sand
passage, or into the sea, and imprisoned there. If one of them nevertheless
stays on the land, he is wiped out by the knights. I can imagine that the
Legendis demon, as the protector of the lesser of his kind, has quite a hatred
for the Light Knighthood, but he won’t know the difference between normal
humans and knights, so he attacked us and we had to pay for what others are to
blame for. Well, at least we survived it… Ah yes, your second question was
about Lumenium… Well, it’s actually very similar to Umbraurore. Due to the
faulty structure of the demons, which was created during the transformation
into the earth’s own lumenium, they are no longer able to touch anything other
than the earth itself and the water without repelling it. Therefore, it seems
as if their body is solid, but it is still unphysical. Now, when attacking a
Lumenium demon, the knock-off effect isn’t quite enough to knock back the
momentum and powerful attack. Consequently, the attack hits the white body and
injures it. However, if a demon attacks, the same thing happens, only in
reverse, using the repulsion effect to injure the enemy’s body with its body.
If he is attacked and injured, lumenium particles are thrown away, which is
only possible with demons. In contrast to animals and humans, their bodies do
not hold together so well, because of the defective structure and they do not
carry blood, which is a mixture of both forces, due to the lack of Umbraurore.
This is why they dissolve instantly into lumenium particles. In living beings,
this process is not as easy to observe as you can already imagine if you remember
what I told you about the white force in Mediasilva. Normally, it would take
about ten years for the body to completely dissolve into lumenium particles and
transform their structure into Earth’s own. During this years-long process, the
particles of the white force gradually merge with the earth and are made
available by a new structural transformation of these, then new bodies. Even if
you burn someone and only ashes remain, the process still takes about ten
years. But since the normal case has now become an exceptional situation and
the process happens faster, there is not enough time for a successful
transformation, as you know, then the structure becomes defective, the
particles do not unite with the earth’s own lumenium, but remain around the
dead body, but not for long, because then they join together to form a demon.
As soon as this happens, the rest of the body completely dissolves within a few
seconds and the lumenium particles unite with the demon that has just been
created, as it ignites an attraction to the dead body from which it itself
originates. This principle remains the same in every situation, regardless of
whether the dead creature is underwater, buried underground, or on land. If my
memory is correct, this would have been all you wanted to know, little angel.
I’m glad you’re showing so much interest in the world.” Glaczio grinned at
the last sentence, but Cheyenne knew he meant it. She had once again received
her answer in detail, just as she had been used to and understood from the
healer. “Thank you, Glaczio. I think I understand it now. But it was
really bad luck that we of all people came across this Legendis demon…”
Cheyenne lowered her eyes. Somehow I
always magically attract misfortune… Glaczio seemed to be able to read
her thoughts, for he laughed briefly and softly. “Hehe… This is probably
a disadvantage of the chosen ones. Something always happens to us. But look at
it this way: We’re in high demand, hehe, and that way there’s never a dull
moment, huh? Although half of all the excitement we have had in our lives so
far would probably have been completely enough… Be that as it may. Just don’t
let your fate subjugate you and still try to handle everything in your own way.
If life is already playing cat and mouse with you, make sure that you are the
cat. What I’m trying to say, you know, yes? No matter what happens, always use
it to your advantage. You don’t have to accept anything if you don’t want to,
go your own way and make the best of every situation, no matter how hopeless.
I… I pretty much underestimated your mental strength, to be honest. You have
what it takes to save the world we all live in, that much I know… But what
I’ve also realized lately… Angel, I was wrong when I said there were only two
ways for you. That of wonderful freedom, or that of your fate in chains. There
is a third. You have everything you need to save the world in your own way. You
just can’t lose yourself and you have to stay true to this path. Don’t confuse
it with that of your destiny, it’s the same goal, but the path you walk on is
different in each case. But if you choose your freedom… you will suffer more.
But I know that doesn’t deter you, deep down… I am quite sure that your soul
can be strong enough for this and I will help you on your way as best I can and
as far as I am allowed, as well as Sasha, that’s probably clear, hehe. You…
You’re not what you’d expect from a chosen one, but that’s exactly what could
be the salvation of the world.” Just at that moment, Sasha came back with
some branches and laid them on the ground. She didn’t seem to have heard
Glaczio’s quiet words and was still happy. The chromastars in the sky became
paler and paler and soon night would fall. The first night in Halonia.
Cheyenne slept snuggled up close to Adocaz under the
old tree. She had already given in to her exhaustion and tiredness at the last
chromastars shining in the sky. Sasha had lit the fire near her friend, now sat
next to her, leaning against the tree and looking at the restlessly sleeping
girl. Then she let her gaze wander around, over the lake, past the wide
grassland. Only when her eyes saw the protective rocks did she look at them any
longer.
The last three chromastars gave off just enough light
for her to see Glaczio, who was sitting on the ground leaning against a rock,
staring at the fire. The flames played again in his eyes. He didn’t seem to
dare to get any closer to the warming glow.
Sasha stood up and walked towards the healer. She
knelt next to him, but he didn’t even look at her and continued to look at the
bright orange fire. At close range, his eyes were expressionless and empty.
His childhood friend started a conversation:
“Stop staring so sadly at the fire there, I have to talk to you.” She
spoke softly so as not to wake Cheyenne and waited for a reaction. Glaczio
sighed, tilted his head in Sasha’s direction and looked at her. “I really doubt
that you want to ask me if you can cuddle with me a bit, hehe…” Sasha
rolled her eyes and grumbled something to herself for a moment, annoyed.
“No, I don’t want that at all and that will never happen again in your
whole life, understood? Complete idiot… Now listen carefully, I know exactly
what you’re up to, it’s obvious, but I’m not going to let it happen, get it?
Meanwhile, I really don’t care what you do… regarding all the female, human
beings out there who fall for your scam. You know, all I can say is that you
should be ashamed of yourself. But I’ve really already given up hope with you,
you won’t change anymore… Argh… Anyway, what I wanted to say was: Stop
getting close to Cheyenne. You’re really a bastard, she gave you a second
chance that you didn’t even deserve and you totally take advantage of that.
Attitude or not, hold back, or something will really happen to you, I guarantee
you. You know that I will not hesitate to kill you if a suitable opportunity
presents itself. What happened to us back then is one thing, but now… You’ve
become so unpredictable that I’m not sure if you’re not going back to the
knights somehow when you see that the shadow servants don’t want you as a
support. You are and will remain a traitor… And even if I hate to say it,
having you as an enemy is really not good. Especially not for Cheyenne. Right
now, she couldn’t even last three seconds in a fight against you… And she’s slowly
starting to like you again, even more than before… But she shouldn’t.
Unfortunately, I can’t do anything about it… Argh… I’m not saying it again as nicely and kindly
as I just did, so listen carefully… Keep your hands off Cheyenne, or you’ll
regret it. She is the chosen one, who is extremely important for the world and
also my best friend… And now think about who you are, does it ring a bell?
You are the chosen one of light, her natural mortal enemy, that alone should
bring you to your senses. But if that’s not enough for you, then I have another
reason for you. If the shadow servants see you together with her, that’s bad
enough, then they’re sure to be insecure right away. If you both become
‘friends’, then it is even worse, because they will then wonder if the chosen
one really has what it takes to separate ‘good from evil’ and will probably
start to doubt Cheyenne. But if there is more going on between you now, they
might even distrust her. That wouldn’t be good at all. Shadow servants and
chosen one must support each other and need each other to save the world from
the end. But I’m not even sure anymore if you’re really still very interested
in continuing to live, so you won’t care about my arguments… Anyway, I’ll
make sure Cheyenne doesn’t get involved with you and if it’s the last thing I
do, remember that.” Sasha was upset and had gritted her teeth in anger at
the healer. He had looked at her the whole time and had not pulled a face. He
narrowed his eyes a little and looked unusually serious, but then he lifted one
corner of his mouth to a low-pronounced, almost nasty-looking grin. “Hehe,
you really know how to threaten people, but I’ve heard these speeches on your
part so many times that they’ve lost their effect, baby… You know that I only
do what I want… and that won’t change, just for your information. Your
insinuations were very well thought out this time, I’m truly impressed, I
didn’t expect so much intelligence from you, a miracle, hehe… You’re
absolutely right, I want to regain the trust of my little angel… but a few of
your other arguments were not correct. Never again will I be on the side of the
Knights of Light… As long as Cheyenne is alive, I don’t intend to die. I
would like to try at least to make amends for some of the sins I committed as
the Chosen One of the Light through her. She helped me and gave me a second
chance because she understood that. I will take advantage of this opportunity
and provide her with my help in return, because I owe it to the world anyway.
Since I am aware of all this, it is out of the question for me to take
advantage of the sweet one there. In this respect, I agree with you, babe…
Even though Cheyenne is really adorable and I would really use all the tricks I
have in store to win her over, I won’t do this. For anything beyond ‘flirting’,
as you call it, would be degrading and dishonoring to the chosen one if it were
in connection with me, and thus also to the shadow servants, as you have
already mentioned. Whether you want to believe me or not, I speak the
truth.” The healer had spoken in a low, calm and determined voice, but
Sasha didn’t seem to be completely convinced. She didn’t trust him anymore, but
she ended the topic anyway. “Pff… As you mean. I’ll keep an eye on you
anyway…” With that, she stood up and returned to her seat next to
Cheyenne. Glaczio continued to look at the flames.
Cheyenne was enclosed in a cube of glass. Her feet were chained to a metal bracket anchored to the ground. In front of her stood her mother, whom she only knew from stories and descriptions. Behind the girl, Falconheart pranced, snorting and scratching furiously. On either side of her were her grandparents. All of them had white eyes, each carrying a black crystal and were outside the cube. The stallion neighed deafeningly loudly and stepped with his hoof on the crystal lying on the ground in front of him, whereupon it shattered into thousands of splinters. Cheyenne’s feet got wet and she looked down at the floor. Red blood emerged from an opening in it and rose slowly. When the liquid had almost reached the girl’s knees, her grandfather broke the black crystal with his hands and shortly afterwards her grandmother did the same. The blood in the glass cube rose tremendously quickly and had reached her waist in no time at all. Finally, her mother also broke the crystal and a chorus of voices rang out as the blood rose to Cheyenne’s neck. “Die, die, die…” The girl wanted to scream, but she couldn’t make a sound, the red juice of life rose faster and higher and she was held to the ground by the chain. Soon she would drown in her guilt, the suffering of others and her sins. Wild, nasty laughter broke out. Suddenly Cheyenne felt freezing cold, but inside she felt warmth and security. The blood had frozen into a block of ice and her loved ones standing around the glass cube had become ice sculptures. Then the ice shattered.
“Good morning, little angel. Is everything okay? You’ve slept so restlessly again, I thought I’d rather allow myself the cheek and bring you back from your dreams to reality. We wanted to wake you up right away anyway, for the onward journey.” Cheyenne lay on the grass, blinking the nightmare away from her. Had she only imagined it, or had Glaczio’s awakening in her dream been salvation from death? She shook off her thoughts, because she didn’t want to deal with this horrible nightmare anymore.
The girl straightened up. Her body felt normal again, her lungs no longer hurt and she was back to her old self. Cheyenne looked down at the lake and saw Sasha and Adocaz there. She turned to Glaczio again. “Um, yes… Good morning. Thank you so much for freeing me from this damn nightmare… Hm, you were right yesterday, by the way. I’m doing really well again, I don’t feel any pain anymore and I feel strong enough to keep going. How is Adocaz’s paw?” The healer seemed pleased with Cheyenne’s good condition and also that she took his advice into account and didn’t take her dream too much to heart. He grabbed his protégé’s forearm, which was connected with leaves, and removed the green. “It’s nice that you’re feeling better. Adocaz’s paw is as good as new. Thanks to a healing spell cast by me, the incredibly gifted and handsome healer, hehe. Sasha only washes off the herbal paste and then we wanted to be on our way, if you agree. Your wound here on your forearm should have healed as well, so as soon as you’re ready, we’ll go to the other two and you’ll wash the stuff off here too. If you’re thirsty, this lake is your friend, because the water there is as pure as if it came straight from a spring. Perhaps herb grows on the ground, this is very rare, but it exists, according to researchers and botany books. It purifies the water and adds a little extra Umbraurore that gives you strength. Unfortunately, the invigorating effect only lasts for a few hours, then the Umbraurore leaves you again. But still, it helps your body and soul to regenerate a bit if necessary. It harmonizes with us and supports the lumenium and Umbraurore functions of our bodies. Hm… Your wound here is no longer visible, which is very gratifying. Well, I’d suggest we go to the others.” Cheyenne nodded and the healer stood up. He took his protégé’s hand and helped her to her feet with a light tightening. The girl stood a little shaky at first, but she quickly found her balance and went with Glaczio to Sasha and Adocaz by the lake.
The young woman had just finished washing Adocaz’s wound and stood up. She turned around and saw her best friend. “Cheyenne! Good morning, hey, you seem to be doing better than yesterday. Nice! Adocaz is also in top shape again.” The fairy wolf crouched down on the ground playfully when he saw his owner coming towards him. Then he barked and jumped up to her. He circled the girl once and then sat down at her side. Pressed tightly to her legs, he had stretched his muzzle in the air and panted happily. Oh, how nice that Adocaz is so happy. Cheyenne stroked her four-legged friend and thanked Sasha. “I’m really happy that he’s doing so well again, thank you, Sasha. But not only in Adocaz’s name, but also in mine. The wound on my forearm has healed really well, thanks to your… um, herb mash. Hihi.” The young woman laughed with her friend and was visibly pleased that everyone was fine again.
Cheyenne trudged to the lake and knelt down on the shore. She hadn’t drunk anything since yesterday and was almost dying of thirst. Adocaz sat next to her, he probably wouldn’t leave her side for quite a while, but it didn’t bother her. The girl dipped her hands into the cool, refreshing, green-blue water and scooped out some of it with them. She drank the liquid and after a few sips her thirst was quenched. This water is really… unique. It tastes better than the one in the Klissave Mountains. And the color is also very beautiful. Cheyenne got up again and went back to Sasha and Glaczio together with Adocaz. Then they all set off, along the outside of the large tidal lake.
In the afternoon they arrived at the foot of Mount Nightblade, where rocks that would provide a good privacy were anchored in the grassy ground, which turned into earth and black stone closer to the mountain. While they had wandered around the lake, not a single knight passed by on the other side. They hadn’t seen other people either. Everything remained calm. This part of Halonia seemed to be uninhabited, even though there was so much land here. Cheyenne thought it was nice that nature was so untouched here.
Up close, the black mountain looked even more powerful than it did in the distance. However, the girl could not see a house, only a fir forest surrounded Mount Nightblade up to a third. The summit was covered by colorful clouds. Hm, maybe the house of the elders is so high up, or so small, that you can’t see it from here. Or it is hidden by a few trees or rocks. Then maybe I just don’t see it from this point of view.
Glaczio also looked at the mountain and then turned to Sasha. “Hey, Sasha mouse. Where exactly is this house of the elders supposed to be located? I doubt it will be in the middle of the path.” The young woman blushed, crossed her arms and looked to the side a little embarrassed. “Um… well… so… I don’t know exactly…” What? Seriously? Cheyenne sighed in amazement and the healer grinned. He exchanged a glance with his protégé and then looked at the mountain again. “Hehe. This is once again typical Sasha. First act, then think. To be honest, I didn’t expect anything else from you, sweetie. How do you think we should proceed now? This mountain is huge, without a clue we would be wandering around up there for quite a long time. Possibly without success. Waste of time. We should consider whether we should not continue on a direct path. Where is the Superator actually staying? We should bring my little angel to this one.” Sasha had turned around in the meantime and had become meek. “Um… Well, the thing is… Only Imperators and their deputies know where the Superator and his Shadow Clan are… Unfortunately, I don’t know where the shadow nests are here in Halonia, so we can’t ask… Ah, Cheyenne, I think I forgot to explain that. Shadow nests, or shadow camps, are the respective locations of the shadow servants. Most of them are a kind of underground bunker, with a grass-covered dome that even has windows. These places are huge, really beautiful and sometimes really cozy because they are mostly built of wood. They are well hidden so that only those who know the exact location can find their way. And Shadow Clans, which include all Shadow Servants who are under the command of the respective Imperator. Well, I think that’s all about the shadow servants… Oh yes, icicle. I don’t know exactly where the elders are, but at least I know how to get there. Now you’re amazed, aren’t you? The path should be marked with a lettering of the Yin-Yang language, which is carved into a boulder.” The healer laughed softly and shook his head slowly. Then he shrugged his shoulders and sighed before turning around, crossing his arms and closing his eyes. “Well, if you think that this fact will help us now, then let’s follow your plan and go up there tomorrow. What else can we do but try our luck? I assume that we will have to plan a lot of time, so we will spend the night here. Because I doubt that it will help anyone if we hike around on a dangerous mountain at night.” Sasha and Cheyenne nodded, Glaczio turned to his protégé and continued. “What joy, everyone agrees. To kill time and use it wisely at the same time, I would offer you a little training session if you agree, little angel?” Cheyenne nodded again and was curious to see what she was about to learn. Sasha didn’t seem to have any objections and sat down on the grass at a distance before lying on her back and bending her legs. She tilted her head to the side to watch her friend. Adocaz trotted to the young woman and lay down as well.
Glaczio passed Cheyenne and stood almost exactly in the middle between the rocks and the lake. He looked over his shoulder at the girl before turning around and calling her over.
His protégé groped towards him and stopped in front of him. The healer looked Cheyenne up and down, seeming to think. “Hm… Oh, I’m rude. So, I plan to teach you elemental magic as far as I can. But it would be much easier for both of us if we figured out your element first… However, this is very difficult for me, to be honest… Your character is quite unique, you are sometimes as temperamental as someone of the element lightning. Then, however, you are pretty calm and reasonable from time to time, so water would also be an option. If there is a reason for it, you like to be happy and laugh, so we should not exclude earth. Your intelligence is often quite amazing and you don’t mind the cold, so ice would also be an option. And when it comes down to it, you can also fight pretty well and persistently to achieve a set goal, just like someone from the element of wind… But one element would harmonize best with you in my opinion, even if they all fit you in one way… Your willpower is truly remarkable, you always refuse to give up hope, you are very committed to those you have grown fond of, and you would give your life just to protect them. These character traits are a bit more pronounced in you than all the ones mentioned so far… These characteristics correspond to the element of fire, which would also correspond to your name. You should know that the name ‘Cheyenne’ in the Yin-Yang language means ‘fire’, or ‘the fiery one’. This name used to be very rare, and only the bravest warriors were given it as an epithet when they earned it. Courage, the quality of the element of darkness, is just as strong in you as your hope and will. That you can also control the element of darkness should seem logical. Oh and just in case you’re interested, hehe… A small appendix to the meaning of the name, because you like the Yin-Yang language so much. ‘Glaczio’ means ‘ice’ or ‘the icy one’. And my last name, which I’ve never told you because… well, when we met for the first time, it would have been too risky to tell you, after all, you shouldn’t know who I am and usually people know me immediately when I introduce myself by my full name… Atropax has always spread my family name and only relatives and acquaintances were allowed to call me by my first name… My last name is Capriszeé and translates as ‘Lake of the Cold’, hehe… Meaning and character go very well together in our names. Fascinating, isn’t it? So I think that your element is fire, but one thing concerns me. You have traits of each element, which is very rare and strange, but you’re also the chosen one, so… I would be interested to know if you can’t even summon all the elements and work as magic for this very reason… It’s worth a try. Accordingly, I now call fire your ‘main element’ and the others your ‘secondary elements’ until I am convinced otherwise. I’m really pretty sure that I’m right with my guess. Since the element of darkness is another type of element, which probably only you, of all the beings in this world, can summon, I count it as your second main element. Hm… If I think correctly now, you are exactly the opposite of me in most respects… Your element is fire, mine ice. You are female, I am male. You are guaranteed to be able to cast elemental magic, I can’t, my magic is Lumenium-based. You can summon all the elements, as it looks, I don’t actually have any, just ice, on a fake basis. And then… there is also our body structure. While I have quite a lot of lumenium in my body, you have a lot of Umbraurore, which is, I’m pretty sure, also the reason why you always recover so quickly and injuries heal in the blink of an eye. You have so much of the black life force in you that it affects your existing lumenium in such a way that it produces the missing one very quickly. This works by simply multiplying the lumenium in your body, it doesn’t need one from the outside, like I do when healing. Then you can control the darkness, the element of courage, and I… can conjure up light, if I will, the element of destruction and damnation. Both are ancient, can no longer be summoned by normal people, but unlike light, darkness still exists in our world.”
Hm… So my main elements are supposed to be fire and darkness, while for Glaczio it is ice and light. These are really opposites. His last name means Lake of Cold. So Glaczio Capriszeé means ice, or the icy one, from the lake of cold? Oh, this Yin-Yang language is fantastically beautiful… Even the translation into our language still sounds so wonderful… My name even means fire and is considered a sign of courage? Wow… Never in my life would I have thought that it would have such a strong meaning, I like that. Accordingly, I would be… hm… the fire of the blessed, blessed fire, the fiery blessed, or the blessed fiery. That all sounds nice… But Glaczio somehow totally misjudges me… I’m not brave… I just don’t want anything to happen to anyone because of me… And give up… Well, actually I’m just too stubborn to back down, even if the situation is pretty hopeless… But I would rather call that irrationality than perseverance and hope… But if he thinks… Somehow I don’t want to doubt his conclusions, he is actually always right about something like that. But that will soon become clear when I try to use magic. It would really be… unbelievable if I could summon all the elements… Me…
Glaczio finished his analysis and winked at Cheyenne. “Well then, little angel. Let’s get started. We’ll start with fire, one of your main elements. It doesn’t matter what magic we start with, what I can teach you remains the same, because I don’t use Umbraurore. But the technique to be used is basically the same, as far as I know. At least that’s what Atropax claimed. So, listen carefully. To cast a spell, the highest concentration is required. At some point you are automatically concentrated, but you are still at the beginning, so you really have to make an effort, yes? At first, it will be easier for you if you block out all your surroundings and all sounds, but later in real fights, you will have to be focused on everything again. Remember what I taught you in Saraley. If you fight with magic and weapon, you will have an advantage, but you will have to pay twice as much attention and be even more careful. You are obliged to perceive your surroundings completely and in the smallest detail, but at the same time to concentrate on fighting. Why? If an enemy attacks you from behind and you’re too fixated on a spell, you won’t notice it because your instincts are distracted by the magic. But now we are still in the training phase, so for now concentrate only on the spell you want to cast. One day you will be able to master magic and martial arts perfectly and still be aware of your surroundings, I’m not worried about that. For the chosen one, this will be child’s play. It’s in your blood…” Cheyenne listened carefully, but she wasn’t sure if she would ever become as good a warrior as Glaczio believed. However, he seemed very convinced and she nodded only timidly, then he continued. “In addition to concentration, you also need controlled willpower. I guess this will be the hardest point to start with. You have to imagine fire, let it ignite and blaze in you, you have to feel it, its heat, its hope, its strength. You have to become one with fire so that you can control it properly. You should be able to summon it just by thinking about it, but you have to connect with it so that it obeys you and does exactly what you ask it to do. This is the point you need to work on yourself and which one is most important. When you can merge and control willpower and imagination, you master the magic. But even if you are the chosen one and all this is no longer a problem for you at some point, I suspect that there is still a long way to go until you have mastered the spell completely. Don’t rely on it in battles just yet. Oh yes, while we’re on the subject… If you are not calm personified, just like when fighting with weapons, you will not be able to perform magic, remember that well. Well, the final point to cast a spell would be to focus your Umbraurore on one point. Once you’ve developed a sense of it, you can increase or decrease it as needed. For starters, I recommend selecting the point in one of your palms, I guess that’s the easiest method. Later, you can also select any point in your immediate vicinity and on your whole body. With fire, however, only the hands seem to me to be a sensible starting point, but you can experiment with them. You may find a technique that is truly beneficial and effective when the fire starts from a different place. That would be the basics so far. Oh, before you wonder. Elemental magic does not require magic circles. These only appear when Lumenium Structure is converted. Think of my healing and ice spells as an example. With elemental magic, you are only surrounded by a slight glow that is almost invisible during the day, or rather a faint glow that is reminiscent of the respective element, in your case fire. Your eyes will start to glow in your eye color, but once the spell is forfeited, they will return to normal. Don’t worry, during the day this condition is difficult to see and your vision is not impaired at all. Well, then give it a try. But please stand in the direction of the lake, if anything… should go not as planned, hehe. But to be honest, I don’t think you can start a fire the first time. Well, we’ll see.” If I have understood correctly, I am supposed to change the Umbraurore frequency to Fire Elemental Magic within myself through willpower and imagination. I have to be focused and calm and focus my strength on one point…. Hm… That’s quite a lot at once… Hopefully I can do it… Well, somehow it will work, I just have to believe enough in it and keep trying until I succeed. So… start a fire with a spark of my own Umbraurore and keep it alive with Ambient Umbraurore and control its strength… Well then, let’s go…
Glaczio stood next to Cheyenne, keeping a little distance. Hey, is the coward afraid that he is about to be burned? My own spell shouldn’t harm me, I conjure it. It is therefore a part of me, so to speak. But wait a minute… Glaczio’s element is ice… Maybe that’s why he prefers to keep his distance because he may not like fire very much and it might hurt him more than other elements. Fortunately, this is only a limitation in combat and not in everything else. Because then he couldn’t even be near me, let alone hug me and pat me on the shoulder. He wouldn’t be able to cure me either. But sometimes it wouldn’t be so bad if he couldn’t get too close to me… Well, at least I’d have an advantage in the fight against him, hehe. All right, then I’ll try to conjure up a fire now… Or… maybe I should imagine a little flame first… For starters… After all, I have no idea what’s about to happen.
Cheyenne took a deep breath and then raised a hand. She stretched it forward and tried to keep it parallel to the ground, just as the girl had observed with Glaczio. But then she lowered her arm again and thought. If I stretch out my hand like that, then I do magic down, or away from me, but… actually I want to see the flame already… In addition… I don’t want to set fire to the ground here… Cheyenne bent her arm so that she could see the palm. Nevertheless, the girl was still unsure. The healer seemed to notice this and stepped closer to his protégé. “Hey, little angel, don’t worry, the ground won’t go up in flames, the probability of that is very low. Hm, you want to try your hand at a little spark to start with, am I right? I didn’t expect anything else, hehe. You take it slow, that’s good, but at the same time you have to really want what you want to do and not hesitate.” Glaczio took the girl’s hand and pointed it a few centimeters away from her, her arm now at about a right angle and almost parallel to the floor again. The healer crept past like a cat close behind his protégé and grabbed her second hand as well. He led them to the other and now stood in front of Cheyenne. Glaczio now formed her palms into a bowl-like curvature. This is how she always held her hands when she drew water to drink it. The healer seemed satisfied with his work and stood again at the girl’s side.
Cheyenne now tried to concentrate and imagine fire, she collected some of her body’s own Umbraurore on the point in her palms, but nothing happened. She tried harder, with the same result. After a few minutes, she sighed and the healer gave her a break. “Hey, always stay calm, little angel. Don’t overdo it. You’d better tell me what fire you’re thinking of. The one you saw last night before going to sleep? If so, then the magic won’t work, doll. This is the point that is difficult and not easy to understand. You must not think of any fire, no. You have to ignite your own fire within yourself through your willpower. Don’t take this literally, but just imagining it is not enough. You have to let your will flow in, you have to want the fire to harmonize with you and let itself be controlled by you, because it doesn’t do it by itself. Only when you connect the willpower with the flame within you that you imagine does your own fire arise. This must then exceed your imagination and if that is successful, you can work magic. I know it’s complicated, but you can do it.”
Cheyenne tried again. This time she closed her eyes and followed exactly what the healer had advised her. She kindled the fire in her and felt it blaze up in infinite hope. The willpower kept it alive, it was an indescribably beautiful feeling of warmth, confidence and wild determination. The feeling of fire.
The girl concentrated on the point in her palms and opened her eyes again, the flames blazing in her soul. Suddenly, she felt her heartbeat as if it were a blast wave emanating from her heart. But only for one blow. The heat of the fire flowed through her whole body, but it didn’t hurt. Cheyenne’s vision was framed by the glow of her red eyes, but it didn’t affect her vision in any way. When the heartbeat had died down, a small accumulation of Umbraurore appeared in her hands for a split second, from which a flame was immediately ignited. It floated in Cheyenne’s hands and felt enormously hot. But the girl didn’t seem to be hurt by the enormous heat, nor was she uncomfortable and after a short time she got used to the feeling. Usually, the heat of a fire stabbed and burned one, but not Cheyenne’s own flame. The stinging and pain was non-existent, but the lively heat remained.
It was an incredibly nice feeling for the girl. On the
one hand it was the success, on the other hand she just found it fascinating
that she managed to do something like this. For her, this moment was
indescribable and she even felt happy and forgot for the few seconds she held
the fire, all her worries and hope flowed through her. But after a short while,
she could no longer control the flame and it went out. Only now did Cheyenne
realize how much energy this magic had cost and she was slightly exhausted. Glaczio
put an arm around his protégé’s shoulders and hugged the girl. “Little
angel, that was truly impressive and amazing. I honestly didn’t expect that you
would be able to conjure up such a controlled, beautiful, small flame on your
first attempt, which will last so long. Now you should take a little break,
because at first, if you are not used to dealing with magic, it is very
exhausting and tiring. I think you have understood the principle and if you
want, you can conjure up a flame again and again during the rest of the day, or
try your hand at other elements, the same principle prevails. However, don’t
forget that it’s exhausting and even if you should learn it, don’t overdo it,
right? It would be advisable that you are well rested and at full strength for
tomorrow, but knowing you, you will take it slow anyway. Right now, you’re
probably full of energy, but in a few seconds reason will return and you’ll
listen to my words, I’d bet you, hehe. I’m really proud of you, little doll. If
you want to know anything else about magic, or take advantage of my advice for
summoning, you are welcome to ask me. I will do my best to help you. If you
allow, I would also squeeze in another training session, after the visit to the
elders. Until then, just practice a little on your own. After all, I can’t
always be with you and stand by your side when you’re struggling to give you
advice. Of course, the brave, powerful hero always tries to be at the service
of his noble princess and protect her wherever he can. He would like to impress
Her Highness so much that she might give him a kiss in the end, hehe… You did
really well, little angel…” The healer put on a friendly, kind look,
then he smiled and loosened the grip. Cheyenne was happy about all the praise
and that she had managed to conjure magic. She thanked Glaczio from the bottom
of her heart. “Thank you very much, that’s brilliant. Magic really feels
wonderful. I will work on it so that I can soon do magic as well as you do.
Thank you so much.”
